Education or Formation
Christian formation is a lifelong process that includes cultivating our relationships with God through worship, prayer, study, stewardship, and many other aspects of our spiritual lives. One of the ways that we engage in Christian Formation is through education for adults and for children.
Christian Education for children takes place on Sunday mornings from mid-September through early June during the 10:00 worship service. Students meet with their teachers beginning at 10:00, and join the congregation half-way through the Eucharistic service. On the first Sunday of each month, the children remain with the congregation for the entire 10:00 service, and the service generally contains some special elements that appeal specifically to them. We use a Church School curriculum called The Whole People of God, which is designed particularly for use in the Episcopal Church, and which provides lessons created for various age levels. The subject matter is drawn from the scripture readings that are used in the worship services of that particular day, so that both children and their parents are experiencing and learning about the same lessons.
For adults who are interested in learning opportunities we offer Adult Forums at 9:00 on Sunday mornings, between the two worship services. These may be led by the Missional Priest or by members of the congregation, and address a variety of subjects. In addition, there are occasional special opportunities for study during various seasons of the year.
